There are lots of ways to burn fat these days and for some it’s easier than others. There are few people that are gifted with unnatural genetics and don’t need to spend hours running or time on the treadmill doing their best imitation of a gerbil and the wheel. For the rest of us we need hardcore cardio at least 30 minutes a day 4 to 5 times a week. Of course, you can always supplement by taking specific vitamins that reduce appetite and increase energy but getting the heart rate up and doing real cardio is truly the only way to really burn fat.

So, when is the best time to do Cardio? The common answer is in the morning and for a max of 30-45 minutes. In reality and if you live in the same world I live in, the best time is any time you can get it in; as long as you do it. The morning is optimum because if you do it before eating any food the body will be forced to use stored energy versus any carbs or energy that were recently consumed. When doing your cardio remember to find your ideal heart rate and for most this should not exceed 70% of your maximum heart rate, anything more could be dangerous. Also, keep an eye on the clock, it’s easy to become lulled into the treadmill trance and stay on to long. After 30-45 minutes your body will move past any stored energy and it will begin to breakdown muscles to feed your need for speed.

If you really do have a slow metabolic rate a second round of cardio might be in order. Try to do this later in the day and AFTER your core weight work out. Personally, I would stick to 30-45 minutes again to avoid boredom and this should be enough time to for your body to burn some additional fat. Anything longer becomes an issue of diminishing returns and could lead to an injury that would hamper goals.

Advanced fitness enthusiasts will often work out multiple times a day, breaking up their workout by muscle groups; for instance: Chest and Tri’s, Biceps and Legs, or some other variant. This kind of focus can improve the success you have in improving your overall physique and also allows you to safely work in cardio.

Have a great workout!

I am an avid fitness enthusiast that uses cheap supplements, likes bodybuilding, and will often use whey protein to help with workouts. http://cheapsupplements-topshape.blogspot.com/2011/04/burning-fat.html
